Delete your YouRent account

For accounts on the YouRent website and the YouRent app for Android and iPhone. You can do it here, without installing anything.

Sign in to delete your account

We need to know the account is yours. Sign in with the email address on the account — we send a code, no password needed — and you will come straight back to this page.

Can't get into the email address any more? Contact us and we will verify it another way.

In the app instead

Open YouRent, go to Account, then tap Close my account.

What is deleted

  • Your name, email address, phone number and address
  • Your saved properties, saved searches and property alerts
  • What you told landlords about yourself when you enquired or applied — your introduction, your answers to their questions, your income and employment details
  • Identity documents, certificates and verification files you uploaded
  • Your password, two-step verification and every signed-in device, including the app

It happens straight away, not after a waiting period.

What we keep, and why

  • Messages you already sent stay in the other person's conversation, shown as from "Deleted user" — they are part of their record too.
  • Signed tenancies, payments, orders and commission records are kept, with your name removed, because the law requires them — for example, HMRC requires financial records to be kept for six years.
  • Your email address on our do-not-contact list, so we never write to it again.

When an account can't be deleted yet

If you are part of a tenancy that hasn't ended, have rent due, have properties still advertised, have an order in progress, or are owed commission, we'll show you what to sort out first — so nobody on the other side is left without the person they have a contract with.

More about how we handle your data is in our privacy policy.
